Implementing an Aging in Place Strategy in Ontario Condominiums
Older adults are the fastest growing segment of the population, and many are choosing to move into—or remain in—their condominiums later into life. This trend raises practical questions about how condo communities can support aging in place and build more age-inclusive environments.
This webinar builds on Part 1 and will bring together condo and health sector perspectives to explore emerging practices and partnership approaches that condo communities can begin to apply.
Attendees will hear early approaches, including:
- How resident-led groups or committees can be designed and implemented to strengthen support within buildings.
- What more intentional collaboration between condo communities and health and social care could look like, including risk management considerations and the legal interests that must be addressed.
- How these ideas can be operationalized, including what boards and committees need to consider in their design.
- Practical considerations for working within condo environments (e.g. use of common spaces, communications, accessibility), including identifying and managing related risks.
- Where legal and governance considerations come into play, with condominium and legal experts helping to ground what is feasible.
This session is intended to share promising practices and surface key considerations for responding to this growing societal challenge, with a focus on forward-looking steps that can be taken now.
Who Should Attend:
- Condominium residents, including board directors
- Condominium managers and assistant managers
- Property staff, including security and front desk concierge professionals
